In Conn's syndrome, renin levels
are low, and excretion of potassium is high due to
increased sodium retention. There is autonomous aldosterone
secretion in the presence of low or suppressed renin activity. A low potassium (< 3.5 mmol/L) accompanied by metabolic
alkalosis is characteristic.
