Marantic endocarditis: this disorder results in the deposition of fibrin on the valve leaflets on either side of the heart, but especially the left side.
The vegetations are sterile and small (1-5 mm). This form of noninfective endocarditis can be seen in persons who are very debilitated or in those who have a hypercoagulable state.
